The Finlay Homes Journey

The Finlay Family has had a long tradition in the building industry.

Darren Finlay has been involved in the Townsville industry for over 14years, from working with his builder father (now retired), to managing truss plants, and on to running the operations of Townsville’s largest builder for over 6 years. During his time in the industry he has directly overseen the construction of over 700 homes. Darren has realized from theses experiences the importance of customer service and attention to detail.

As a builder, Darren keeps up to date with all the industry changes to Insure he can provide all Finlay homes clients with the highest quality homes. To do this he has been and active member of the HIA. Darren is now chairman of the HIA technical committee, giving client’s confidence in their builder.

His wife Jane has worked in the building industry for over 10 years and still has an active role in Finlay homes with administration and customer service. Just as Darren’s mother before her Jane has a crucial roll in the future of Finlay homes. Jane also has her hands full with raising their twin 2 ½  year old boys, Colby and Hunter.

Reg Finlay, Darrens father has been involved in the Queensland building industry for over 50 years. Reg started his carpentry and joiners apprenticeship in January 1950, and has always had a keen eye for quality. He has been involved in the construction of large commercial projects through to small renovations, all with a craftsman’s touch. Reg also managed window, timber and tile companies in his long involvement in the industry. Reg has always had a great passion for building and continues in retirement. Reg and Jan Finlay now live in Kennedy just north of Cardwell, in a recently built home. Reg continues to show his craftsman touch in there new home with hand made  timber French doors, arches and solid timber finishes to the kitchen.
